What LawyerMcLaw said. This happened to me and after using some compressed air on the fan to clean out the dustbunnies, everything went back to normal.
This happened with my laptop as well. It'll just be that there's too much dust in the vents and it overheats itself. If you can blow the dust out yourself then try that if not take it in for a clean out. It'll work fine once you get the dirt out.
