| Windows Defender? I've just noticed an icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, it looks like a castle and has an orange circle with an exclamation mark in front of it. Now, I'd never seen it before until a couple of minutes ago. When I clicked it, it said "scan in progress" so of course I stopped it, because I didn't know whether it was a genuine piece of Windows software or something that has installed itself onto my computer.
What I want to know is whether anyone has heard of this before, as either a virus masquerading as a genuine Windows program or a genuine virus protection program. We have Norton antivirus, but I know that Windows has some things to protect against viruses too. I installed updates in the past few weeks from the internet, so this could have come with them & I hadn't noticed it before. I don't want another virus on the computer!!
It says "definition version created at 20:01 on 23/8/06" and "scan schedule: daily at 14:00" |
