I work in the contemporary art world. People are very concerned with seeming successful and professional ... actually BEING those things (and thus, having integrity and true professionalism) is consistently overlooked and disregarded.

I maintain professional standards in my work and ethics. I do***ent everything I do, and I make sure to NOT do anything I wouldn't want exposed by the light of day. As a result, when bull**** occurs and people try to sabotage me (as they are wont to do), it's limited to only a couple of weeks at a time, and typically blows over relatively fast. Very little actual damage has been done to me, although I've suffered some dents. All in the line of duty.

I'd like to go back to school, but I think most offices are fraught with this kind of ****, and at the end of the day, I do like my job.

I'm careful now at my new internship. I take it for what it is, a temporary position that is only meant to be a learning experience and something to put on my resume. Plus, my new bosses are older and non-famous, so I don't have to worry about making a fool of myself.
