My friend is working with the old crazies and says it's quite fulfilling. He also cared for his mother her last few years , so he is used to it. I know he has gotten poo thrown at him more than once and for some reason when you get old and senile you start wanting sexual gratification like mad. Especially the women who were so prim and proper once. They have had to secure hands because they were masturbating themselves until they were raw.

I don't think psychiatric patients are the most grateful patients you will work with. In fact I met one the other day who was bitching about how horrible all the nurses were etc and I am sure they aren't but they do have to do some stuff most patients will hate them for (e.g. restraining them). They are also at reasonable risk of violence and as someone mentioned before, I believe there to be a risk of poo flinging. And I have learnt about three people recently who hid poo in their room (friends of friends with mental health difficulties), so I am starting to think that might be quite common. So I think you might need to be alright with poo to do the job. And alright with people being quite rude to you all day long.

I think a_little_devil might work on a psych ward, so she'd probably be a good one to PM.
