Y'know, it has been something of a mantra amongst my friends leading up to my interview - "student discounts". It really hasn't sunk in until after I had the interview and started noticing all these establishments offering discounts to students. My friend who graduated from Birbeck confirms what you said, and that even if you don't have an NUS card, any card substantiaiting "student" status can get you loads of discounts.

& your friend is right. When I went to college in London they weren't NUS affiliated but my ID card got me discounts in most places.

The whole prospect of discounts only kicked in over the past few hours, I'm just buzzing from the prospect of being able to focus and engage my brain after years of attempting to navigate office politics and trying to climb that so-called "company ladder".
