well i dont know that its mandatory that i do one

i just came across the job online and the website said it is helpful
i have not done one before. maybe i will just skip it

as for relevant experience, i used to be a manager at a museum/imax theatre where i had to run the ticket booths, concession stand, gift shop, information desk, make sure the theatre hosts were doing their job, and etc. all cash handling and everything. handle all customer complaints/issues/coupon stuff and whatever. so i mean. i was dealing with, on good days, upwards of 1000 people a day. when we got the Dark Knight, it was more like 2000. but you know anyway.

maybe i just won't do one.

"Further to your advertisement, please accept my resume to be considered for the post of ................................... (whatever the official post is called).

What I can bring to the post is transferrable relevant experience gained when I was managing a museum/imax facility. While employed here, I was responsible for overseeing ticketing, supervising the information desk, cash handling/till reconcilliation, being the front line person in customer service related issues and dealing with customers. On average, I dealt with up to 2000 people on a daily basis, consequently I am thoroughly versed in all aspects of customer service.

As I am currently in further education myself, I feel I have the perspective necessary to interact within the environment of a college bookstore.

I would be delighted to discuss my application further with you. As I live two streets away from the bookstore, any time that corresponds with your schedule would be equally convenient for me.

Thank you for your time and attention regarding my application; I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

......................................... "

do a cover letter, it's gonna introduce you to them in a quick clear format and it's much more professional.
