so i'm no dumbass but... how exactly hard is MS Word/Excel ???

As you may or may not know, I'm trying to get a job in the ADMINISTRATIVE field. & i'm definitely no dumbass at computers, however...

i've never had a computer with either of these here programs? or really any of the ones that they're asking me.

i'm a fairly quick learner & i'm thinking logistically i can handle myself even if i didn't know what the **** i was doing. but say the ad said "Prior MS Word/Excel experience required" & then I said yes, I had it... & it turns out it's a lot harder than i think it's going to be.

because i'm pretty sure i could say "oh i must have a ****ty fleamarket version of MS Word at home." But ideally i'm not interested in getting fired for lying on a resume yaknow?

well. excel is slightly difficult. bc its all about formulas and ****ty maths stuff. or at least it seems like it is to me. i wouldn't try to lie about excel. word is really easy. you just type and then you just kind of put up a front about what else you can do. and then when yr trying to work it, you just **** around and you'll eventually get it right. or what i do, is ask some really prolific word *****, and say "oh hai there, i just happened to forget how to right align, how you do that?" and then they like, huff and stuff, but are secretly really happy to be showing you how they are so ****ing brilliant.

excel on the other hand. its not just a grid. and its easy to **** up. maybe i've just got a mental block about it, bc i am all anti-grids. idk.

ew excel can eat me already. ANTI-MATH. if i wanted to DO MATH i'd be a mathmagician. or whatever they call them.

there were a few other programs listed on some of the other positions i applied for.

rubix do you know what they are? am i going to have an epic fail at the office?

btw i've literally applied to like... idk 10 jobs in this particular field. and i've got not ONE call back.

i'm so usually stellar at applications & job offers. that this is really the first epic life fail i've had yet. i'm kind of crushed. rejection is hard for me.

perhaps i need to revise the resume?

what sort of programs? like microsoft office?
look. i work in a job where they had that on the credentials required. and i didn't even have to tell them about whether i could or couldn't do it. a lot of the time as long as you put it on there, the most they care about is typing speed. and i am sure that is all fine.
most people aren't needing to do epic things with word, or excel, or anything. what sort of administration is it? most word stuff is really straight forward. and as you go along you kind of make it up and it works? well it works for me. i say do not fear, forge ahead, i did and it worked for me. i can even footnote these days.
a good resume apparently helps. have you experience in admin? or anything you can kind of make into experience?
