| | transcribing jobs from home so, i type 90+ WPM, am more-than familiar with word, & my english/spelling/grammar/etc is, for the most part, on pt.
in any case, from what i've read about the requirements i've met the criteria for a lot of these jobs that involve medical/legal transcribing--all except the experience.
regardless, i just would like to know how does one actually get involved with these kind've jobs? is there some kind of class or test i have to go through? who can i trust? etc. etc.
basically, anyone who's worked with any kind of these jobs would be of great help. even if you're companies are ones that hire transcribers.
thanks in advance.

I've done freelance translations, $10/pg. Usually immigration law offices or tax attorneys have the highest/most consistent demand for this, especially within the next six months.
IDK about 'transcribing from home, inc.', but if you've proven yourself reliable, the work will become steadier and they may have associates that need assistance.
Everybody embellishes their 'experience' and influential references.

but since we'll be the only ones here i can freely livejournal about the subject. immigration > being tracyr's transcribing bitch anyday.
i mean. you know i'm more than willing to "go there" for "the job". i was just told that most transcribing jobs were @ home kind've things so i just thought i'd start there. how does one apply for this kind've thing anyway? do i have to start reading the paper? cuz that's such a < i don't even think i can handle it.
am i rly just better off bailamos-ing for the rest of my life? or should i finally hit the blue bay retirement home.

| | | aura's friend says that you have to go to school to be a medical transcriptionist.
and that there's some sort of space machine involved.
but aura's friend is always above the legal limit of alcohol, so.

| | | apparently, the training isn't that long.
and you can still get jobs without certification, but it's harder.

| | | you would at very least need to familiarize yourself with medica/lawl terminology.

l'avus | i guess if you're certified for it, but if you're trying to get your paper under the table, you need to find a mr. bowden type office. most classifieds probably want a resume. you could advertise translation/transcribing services, but it's just as much of a < and is more effort than called for, imo.
i was hoping for a lj entry re: [finger] bang bang.
hold off on blue bay 'til you get more sag in your swag.

| | | are you talking about taking down shorthand, or just typing out dictation? because the answers for the respective questions are very different.
