I'm glad you're choosing history, and I think it's a really good sign that you based some of your decision on the department.

I learned more during my International Relations course than in most other classes (and then dutifully forgot nearly everything.) I really really liked that course, but I think it was because of all the history packed into it.

I'm a big fan of combining history and lit, and so my vote goes for history. Even though my undergraduate degree was in sociology w/ all that social theory. You can read that on your own.

its going good so far - i mean i've only had like one lecture but im already liking the History this year also i took lots of notes, and i feel good about a subject when i take lots of notes.

RockitToTheMoon - would you say its a good sign im choosing History based partially on the department because you think a department is a good indicator of how good the subject will be?

I think your level of happiness with the department is a good indication of how much you will learn from the classes. I bet you'll be more willing to meet with them outside of class and perhaps more comfortable to go to them for help after you graduate.

I'm glad it's going well! I took the most notes in the classes I loved.

I do Politics and think it's well boring ha ha. Those History modules sound good - especially the one about North America.
