Anyone have any experience with this? I really need some extra money, and since it's a flexible schedule and you can work from home, I'm thinking about possibly, perhaps looking into being a phone sex operator! But I wonder if it would be really creepy and unpleasant.

Any thoughts??

i really don't recommend it. yes, the schedule is flexible and yes you do get to work from home, but you're also being paid by the minute - and it's usually a sliding scale. when you start out, you're making anywhere from about $.15 to $.35 or so a minute, and if the average call is five to ten minutes, you could only be making $.75 to $3.50 or so a call. the more calls you take, the more you get paid, so yes, it's possible you could be making a dollar a minute, but in my experience, i didn't get calls that frequently. i could sit for several hours logged into the system and only get three four or five minute calls.

you've also got the creepy factor. working as a male for a gay sex line i imagine is somewhat different than working as a female on a straight sex line, but i imagine you still get creepy people and prank calls.

i just found the whole experience quite weird and not in a good way. i can laugh about it now (like the time the tranny called me and made me moan over and over again for five minutes), but it really wasn't worth my time.

i think i had a temporary moment of financially-driven insanity when the thought crossed my mind that maybe i could do it. even before your post, i'd decided it was just too creepy. but i had no idea the pay was bad., too. i'm glad to hear that you're not doing it anymore, sokkar.

I looked into it once, but the pay is shit. It was something like £6.50 an hour - and thats only when you're talking! No fucking way!
