Has any been a big brother or sister before? (I'm talking about volunteer stuff, not being a sibling) What were your experiences? Did you enjoy yourself? Yatta, yatta, yatta...

I need some community service hours for school and thought maybe being a big sister would be a good idea. I'm not a huge kid fan, but there are definitely some out there that I can have a good time with. Plus, they try to match you with a kid they think you'll go well with.

I haven't applied yet, and there are several programs that they offer.

What I was wondering if they would turn me away if I smoke? Seeing as I'm supposed to be a positive influence. If you do the one hour a week at the kids school thing, I wouldn't think the smoking thing would be a problem though. I mean, I can wait an hour for a cigarette.

well i dont know for sure. i mean, i think they do here but that doesn't mean they do everywhere.
but i know for sure they do a thorough background check

i don't volunteer my time as i have a little lady to care for
and i might be a bit nuts

i do, however, donate all of my daughter's clothes etc. to them twice a year
