Unhappy Can't Pay For School

I can't pay for school this fall.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do with my life now. I could have my mom take out some massive loans but there's no way I'd be able to get a job right out of school to be able to help pay the loans back and she has stuff to pay for like the house.

This fucking blows.

If her mother has any type of credit, which as a home owner she must, she can cosign for her.
I didn't even have that and I got a loan.

I've been offered all kinds of loans...but I've had a credit card that I pay on time for a number of years. Or at least I mostly pay it on time.

9000 for a trimester sounds obscene, but I know it probably isn't. Thank Christ for my tax dollars. And my parents'.

i still havent decided if it would be worth the savings to live in a dorm

I already applied for loans but it looks like I might be denied anyways.

It's gonna be like 11000 for the semester and that's with the maximum amount of financial aid and scholarships I'm eligible to get with my FAFSA forms.

maybe this is a really stupid suggestion, but have you thought about going to a cheaper school?

I hope your major is something that will actually get you a decent job. I work with people who have $40 g's + in student loans but have yet to do better than waiting tables. One guy has $150 g's in student debt from a high grade film school.

Yeah, but he's qualified to make "high grade gilms". Surely?

that's what i was wondering.

depending on how many more credits you have to go, you should check out the local community colleges to get the freshman/sophomore level courses out of the way and then transfer to a state college. most state-funded colleges are way more affordable obviously. second, like someone else mentioned and since getting a job right out of school is a concern, you might want to make sure your major is something that practically guarantees a good paying job upon graduation or shortly thereafter. usually anything business administration related is a good bet (accounting, finance, marketing, sales). maybe nursing too. in that case, you could see if your mom will be willing to borrow against her house if she can see the likelihood of your landing a job after school is over.

Your school should be able to offer you a higher education grant (free money and maybe a laptop and other provisions) if you provide evidence of a low income.
If you speak to your bank you could set up a student account with a no interest and an agreed overdraft which you probably won't have to pay back for at least 3 years.
Try your best to get a student loan and appeal if you've been refused, explain your situation to the highest power you can and I'm sure you will get some kind of help.
Maybe get some bar work or a part time coffee shop job in between studying to make end meet.
It would be a shame to abandon your studies and throw away your potential simply because of funds. It is possible to pursue your studies if you don't have a lot of money. I got a lot of help when I went to college and uni.
