| | i never lived in them myself but my best friend did and he hated it and was CONSTANTLY telling me horror stories about it - people always stealing his car park, his food etc...sounds bloody awful to me. i went to visit him there a few times and it seemed kinda depressing. but i guess you'd meet a lot of new people and stuff. it's definitely not something i would consider, and not just because of the horror stories i've been told. i'm just way too fragile for that kind of environment |

| | | hmm yeah well mega lol bcuz i dont really have any other option. i wouldnt be bothered about food theft as i wont have food anyway loltoopoor i hate food.
uni is in a new city and i wont be able to afford or find a shared house(without a lot of effort) i dont even know the area i am moving to so that would make it difficult in choosing until ive lived there already i guess?

| | | i'd go on area, in london, not the en-suite thing, because being in a shitty area of london is no good.
but sharing with students will be gross too. not because of being students, because they have just left home |

| | | i had to share a bathroom with 3 other girls who lived in the suite with me. my boyfriend's uni halls were set up where everyone on the floor showers communal style. the thought of doing that horrifies me. what i had to do wasn't that bad. |

| | | Leeds is my firm offer, but I doubt I'll get the grades (they want BBB and it's more likely I'll get ABD) though clearings may still get me in there, as languages are usually undersubscribed.

| | | En suite is essential. I'm just about bourgeouis enough to require my own toilet and shower facilities.

still it would be good to hear some tales | I went to visit my cousin when he was in halls in Newcastle and the shared toilet/shower area looked grubby as owt. Put me right off, so I've gone for all the mod cons on my application.

My biggest worry was hair in the plug hole. It makes my skin crawl. From day one we established a room that you fish your own hair out of the shower when finished otherwise there would be tantrums
It worked well, but we were all pretty clean and stuff.
Amity- Are you going to be living in halls in Leeds?
My friend needed ABB to do French and Law, she got BBC and got accepted onto French and German in clearing. |

My first choice Universities turned out not to do Linguistics, which was annoying. Leeds' language dept. looks pretty wonderful. I only got interviewed by Oxford, out of the Unis I applied for. It's a shame that not many places do it now, as I think you'd be more likely to get an offer that way.
