Let's talk about the dark power of group shunning and censorship. Oh boy, I'll have some good info to post soon about this one.

"Lets all ignore Sophia_ and maybe we can break his/her spirit."

Yeah... that's what the world needs.... more ignorance.

I liked it so much that the thought of going back continues to nag me. I think I will go back in a few years' time. It's really just a sign that I spent too long at varsity in the first place and it became "normal". Oops!

Be less hideously fucking tiresome, Soph.

I graduated as an art major, or as I like to put it, a useless major, went into the world, failed miserably, got depressed and after months of just rolling on self pity I decided to go get a useful degree and try and make something decent out of my life, so I enrolled back in university and that's where I am right now. First semester of a new career. Let's see how this turns out.

I think you should postpone the post-grad for a couple of years and get a job where you can really know what everything is all about. It gives you perspective.

One thing is to be in university or whatever and a very different thing is to be working on your field. When I worked in my field and experienced first hand what it was I wanted to run from it like the plague. And that's why I'm on a related but different career path now. So, you should get a job first.

I took around 18 months off between leaving school & starting university & worked then (first as an office administrator and then in high end retail). I work now. I know what working is like.

I also have no intention in working in my "feild" (history). I've worked in the jewellery industry on and off for years now and am probably going to happily settle into luxury brand retail or some kind of gemmological work when I'm finished my degree. I am happy with this outcome. I just want to study what I am ridiculously passionate about NOW while I still have the oppertunity, before life sweeps me away. The way I see it, I only have one realistic shot at following my heart before being a grown up gets in my way.

But I mean, thanks for the advice.

Funny you should mention 'censorship'. Religious leaders obviously have nothing against it. But i suppose a little 'annoyance ban' isn't as bad as decapitation and torture.

Thou shalt not annoy on Youth Day

Jano Gibson, Linda Morris and Joel Gibson
July 1, 2008

EXTRAORDINARY new powers will allow police to arrest and fine people for "causing annoyance" to World Youth Day participants and permit partial strip searches at hundreds of Sydney sites, beginning today.

The laws, which operate until the end of July, have the potential to make a crime of wearing a T-shirt with a message on it, undertaking a Chaser-style stunt, handing out condoms at protests, riding a skateboard or even playing music, critics say.

Police and volunteers from the State Emergency Service and Rural Fire Service will be able to direct people to cease engaging in conduct that "causes annoyance or inconvenience to participants in a World Youth Day event".

People who fail to comply will be subject to a $5500 fine.

The president of the NSW Bar Association, Anna Katzmann, SC, described the regulations as "unnecessary and repugnant".

The Greens MP Lee Rhiannon said if someone exposed themselves in public, they faced a fine of only $1100 or six months' jail under the Summary Offences Act.

"So if someone flashes a WYD participant they will face a $1100 penalty but if they wear an anti-Catholic T-shirt they could face a $5500 penalty," she said.

A police source said causing an "annoyance or inconvenience" was a highly subjective offence. A police lawyer would define it in layman's terms for operational use by officers.

Civil libertarians said they had never seen anything like the new powers and believed they are more extreme and broader in scope than those used during last year's APEC summit and the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

But the State Government said "World Youth Day is a happy and positive celebration of youth" and "no additional or 'APEC-like' police powers have been granted under the World Youth Day regulations".

The Catholic Church denied it had called for such powers.

The regulations were quietly gazetted by the Deputy Premier, John Watkins, on Friday afternoon and apply to more than 40 city locations, including museums, galleries and cinemas, as well as Darling Harbour, the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, Randwick Racecourse and parklands.

More than 500 schools across Sydney and 35 train and bus stations have also been listed as "declared areas". People entering them will be subject to vehicle and baggage searches that require them to remove jackets, gloves, shoes and headwear if requested. "Reasonable force may be used to effect the person's exclusion" if they do not permit the search, the regulations stipulate.

The Government's World Youth Day spokeswoman, Kristina Keneally, said "bag checks are a sensible safety precaution which any young person who is going to a major event in Australia … would expect". Everyone had the right to protest so long as it was "peaceful and lawful".

The president of the NSW Council of Civil Liberties, Cameron Murphy, said the broad meaning of "causes annoyance" had the potential to encompass any activity. "This sort of amendment is extreme, unnecessary and is likely to escalate conflict when officers issue directions," he said. "People are going to be unaware that they have the power to do this and will find themselves in court facing an enormous fine."

Ms Katzmann said: "The mere presence in the vicinity of a person wearing the apparel or insignia of another religion might be annoying or inconvenient to a participant in a World Youth Day event."

Ms Rhiannon said the regulations were about "shutting down protests and quarantining the Pope and visiting Catholics away from messages World Youth Day authorities don't approve of".

I am not in favor of organized religions. I want people to find the kingdom and serenity within through whatever spiritual practice works for each individual. Organized worship is only part, or a beginning; one must go beyond the group to find spiritual freedom.

How bold that christ would dare to show Himself through the works of such an annoying and repugnant example of a christ-like poetry project. Maybe a public crucifixion rather than a $5500 penalty. That would be a more lasting message for the World Youth.

Sophia_ is responsible for his own responses or lack of responses he gets or does not get from KR members and anyone in real life--
equally. I've seen so many numerous examples of Sophia_ continually not answering questions posed to him on KR. Not to mention dominating any and all 'conversations.'

Look at Ophiel's patience in trying to get a simple answer out of Sophy_. When the question gets a little unpleasant for Soph, he just ignores it. Or he will change the subject or change the meaning of the question posed. Unlike many politicians he is not smooth at doing this.

For example, in the Ignoring Depressed People thread in the Mental Health Forum, Soph claims I made many false accusations about his ex-homeless lady friend. He will not give me any examples of this or answer any questions about this. This does not bode well for somebody who does not want to be ignored and likes to make it look like he is always available for questions and answers and any kind of discourse.

These are common Big Head Radio Todd tactics that lead many people to avoid and ignore him. There is a large list of upwards of a hundred KR members that have dropped out of KR contact with him after seeing it was pointless, over the years and through the aliases and thousands of red dots. It's only a natural response and not a large group conspiracy aimed at the paranoid Sophy.

He couldn't even respond to questions of his quoting of a false Beatle's song he found on the internet that he googled up on 'Lyrics on Demand'. Sad. I think the site he found, lyrics on demand, is a front for a North Korean Karaoke lyrics site that lists lyrics copied by somebody with English as a second language in a loud environment, and with no need to verify their lyrics or song titles because people like Sophy don't care if the lyrics are accurate or not. Of course Sophy sees nothing wrong with that, because that would be admitting he screwed up posting a song 'entitled' 'All The Lonely People' supposedly by the Beatles and written about 'Ella Marigby' instead of Eleanor Rigby !!! It's hilarious how a narcissist can't see any humour in something like 'Ella Marigby' taking the place of Eleanor Rigby and Father Mackenzie 'nodding' his socks, while he tries to downplay and defend his simple no-fault error in quoting something funny and ridiculous. If Sophy only knew all the work that went in to every name and every word in the Eleanor Rigby song !!! I found a lot of reference to this site's mistake in making up the new Beatles' song, 'All The Lonely People', with the different lyrics and everyone laughed about it, or made comments like: "you can tell they are not Beatles' fans to post that."

Sophy's twist on this was to call the one and only 'Eleanor Rigby' Beatles' song, the "commercial version" of the song. He did not see any difference in the meaning of the botched quote job song. Now that is a funny way to always be right---pretend there is another version to Eleanor Rigby, instead of seeing the inaccurate quote with a new title as someone getting it wrong. And that is coming from a poet who you would think would not want his own poetry changed (even humourously) and quoted as some other 'version', and then have the misquoter stay free of any questions about his screw-up. After all anyone can just make any careless version of any work of art and post it for artistic folks like Sophy, the careful-quoter.

You can just ignore that like Soph_ does.

Supposedly people in my field will have a job (which is public relations)offer in three mths, I don't believe that.
