I've never written a resume by myself before. I want to apply for this job at a radio station and they want me to send a resume. The only jobs I've had are retail and food service though.
"Having worked in retail and food service, I possess the core transferrable "people" skills required for the medium of radio - listening to peoples' needs and thinking "off the cuff" are positively second nature to me now. I feel I am at a stage in my life where I can wholeheartedly take on a new and exciting challenge, and the prospect of working in radio would be met with unbridled enthusiasm and a "can do" attitude. I would welcome an opportunity to discuss my application further and look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Thank you for your time and attention regarding my application for this post...."
Try working the above into a cover letter for the resume, as far as writing the resume itself, go to your local library. Tell the librarian you are looking for a book to help you draft a resume. Copy a standard resume, and just pad out the covering letter.

I found this guide to be extremely helpful when writing my CV from scratch. Sorry I'm not being terribly specific, and it is UK orientated, but it may be worth looking at any way?
