| | | Uni Exchange - Canadian Unis I'm exchanging uni for my third year to a canadian uni
I'm really getting stressed trying to choose my courses because I just cannot figure out the credit system
I need help, anyone from a Canadian uni? How many course do I actually have to take...in general. I know its a bit more confusing that I'm not saying which uni. But generally, anything I should know?
Haha I know that sounds as confusing as I'm feeling right now. I think I just need words of assurance
And canadian people, expect a barrage of threads from me in the coming months about winter clothes and weather.
I'm never going to be able to fill in this bloody form. |

| | | where are you thinking of going? i find the canadian system really confusing cos they dont rank them in the same way as in the uk, so it's hard to know where is good. I really wanted to do some postgrad at york in toronto but it was way too expensive.

| | | Canadian's are generally nice people and our education system isn't terribly fucked up. Do you have any idea of where you want to go (province/territory wise)? I can't help you too much with credits and shit like that but I've been through most of the provinces in different seasons.
I could talk to my university counsellor at my school tomorrow. I don't know nearly enough to be of any help as it is. |

| | | haha zion if I thought canadians were monsters I wouldn't go...hence choosing canada over america
I'm heading out to Ontario, I don't really want to outright say where on here, I feel kittyradio already has too much info about me.
But yeah my main problem is my home uni demand 200 credits to be done abroad but all I can find are credits rated as 2.0 and 1.0 ect ect
I think I'm gonna have to find somebody to ask, I hate emailing officialish people!
I'm not as stressed as I was finding out that I have over a month to figure myself out. |

| | | Well, a credit usually is equivilant to about that long of instruction a week or, if you're doing sciences, two or three hours of lab work. Past that I've got no idea. I hope you find someone of a bit more help. |

| | | I go to a Canadian uni. This is how it works where I am: each course per semester is worth 0.5 credits (there is occasionally a course worth 1.0 credits, but its usually a course that is 2 semesters long). The average course load per semester is 2.5 credits (in other words, 5 courses per semester). For some reason every school doesn't use the same credit system (the 0.5 and 1.0, that is).
That probably made things more confusing :S |
