| | | graduation ceremony? i can't decide if i want to go to mine or not. it's going to be a huge pain in the ass and like a million hours long and you don't even get your actual diploma at that time anyway and you have to be there at 8:15 in the morning the day after the drunkest day of your life. i mean....
but then i think i really want to wear the get-up with the unflattering hat and have my goddamn picture taken and all that shit. my mom says she doesn't care, but i think she might be telling one of those nice mom-lies and really she wants to go to the ceremony. but i could be wrong about that.
so................... i don't know. did you walk in your ceremony? or if you didn't, do you wish you had? or what? WHAT??? |

| | | i got guilted into walking in mine. i didn't want to, i told everyone i didn't want to, and then people started to complain and i got scared they wouldn't throw me a party if i didn't.
and i wanted that party because i have cheap friends that wouldn't have given me anything without a party. |

| | | I went to my undergrad one. It was REALLY boring, in Latin and was completely pointless. I have my masters graduation next month, I am hoping that will be less disappointing. |

| | Oh just walk!
Its a once in a lifetime thing. It's only a few hours, and I think if you don't you'll look back and regret it. Of course your mom wants you too- ALL moms want their kids to walk. It's an achievement and I think you should do it! Plus, the unflattering hat is all the fun. |

| | | They're meant to be really shit and boring and you have to pay loads for the outfit and photographer etc but my mother is really excited because IF I graduate then I'll be the first in my family with a degree and so I'm definitely going to go just for her and I also want to see what it's like for myself. |

| | | i went to my masters one a couple of weeks ago and it was completely boring and a pain in the arse, the main reason i went was to appease family members, but i probably wouldve regretted it in a few years if i hadnt of gone

| | | well also. i'm temporarily moving to alaska like three days later, SO... i might just not have the goddamn time for the ceremony AND a party. and if one of the two has to go, you'd better believe its the ceremony. i'll wear the hat to my party with a sparkly-ass dress and ceremoniously drink a lot. |

| | | I have always gone to all my graduations. How many times in your life do you graduate? Not many. Just go. If you don't you might regret it. Sure, graduations are a bunch of boring bullshit, but when it's your graduation day, I think deep down inside a part of you is a little bit excited. |

| | | I went to my ceremony, and I'll be going to my MA ceremony. I don't think the ceremony is so much for you as it is for you parents, and with the amount of money my parents have invested into my education, it would seem really ungrateful for me not to go.
It doesn't last THAT long, and it's nice to be with all your coursemates for the last time. There was only one person on my course who didn't bother coming to graduation, and it dampened the mood a little. As because we'd all gone away on study trips together, everyone had gotten to know each other quite well. |

| | | my actual ceremony was boring but we made a day out of it & it was fun. it was nice to get pictures in all the get-up & have that buzz. i'd say it's worth going, it's probably better to regret going than regret not going. |

| | | I had to. My parents would have been most upset if not.
Mine wasn't too bad, even though I was hungover and had about 3 hours sleep before hand. They kept ours shortish and sweet.
Just sat through a ceremony, had a couple of pictures taken in a gown for my parents and most importantly got to see my friends, dropped my formal stuff in my parents car and set off for a festival.
And I suppose it was nice to actually wear the robe and pick up the piece of paper, because that was the first time I thought "Oh, I actually have a degree. I suppose thats pretty sweet". | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
