Any Lawyers?

Im Just begging for some free advice really. will just briefly outline my case;

I would like to get some advice from a lawyer on a matter to do with the Data Protection Act. I am currently in a battle to obtain what i believe to be a slanderous reference from a former employer from The Bank who offered me a job within their company. When this reference was recieved they immediatly withdrew the offer.

My problem is that i have been battling for over 9months to try and get hold of the reference which i believe by the Data Protection guidelines i am entitled to as it lead to a job offer being withdrawn. I have got the Information Commissoners Office involved but they had a backlog of 6months workload and are only just investigating the matter.

My main questions are a) would i be able to bring a case against my former employer if i could get hold of said reference and it was untrue b) would i be able to bring a case against The Bank for the time they have taken so far in withholding this information ie over 9months, causing lost earnings and career progression. c) how much it would cost me! d) i am not sure what type of lawyers i need to be speaking to

Any help you could give me would be much appreciated!!!

Boy, I can feel how frustrating it must be for you right now. There are many legitimate reasons why you were turned down for the position. It's not like working for the government where a suit might make a difference in policy. In banking I imagine they can get away with almost anything. Whose going to represent you? Lawyers love money too! Bankers and lawyers; they're often members of some society, club, or association and they frequent the same social functions. You, an insignificant cowgirl, would be best looking for a more suitable horse; one that can love you back.

I would cut your losses and not focus on the negative too long, or the negative effect will do much more harm than losing a position. You need to be as positive as you can be to locate and present yourself well to another company. Suck it up and get back on your horse, and don't let the bastards get you down again, partner!

Love and best wishes,

Sophia_

hehe your post made me smile. But seriously they admitted that the only reason they withdrew my job offer was because of this reference. And i know i was a perfect angel in my previous job, my manager/ ex friend just hated me. I cant get a good new job until its sorted out or it will happen again

The ICO seems like its gonna side with me

Banks cant get away with ignoring the data protection act can they? maybe they can...

gets on horse
