Navel Piercing

I've been thinking about getting this done for a while and I might do it after payday tomorrow because I'm sick of waiting. But I have a few questions about the healing and stuff.

What's the best way to clean it? How well does it heal? If I have to take it out for some reason will there be like a big ass hole or scar or will it not be very noticable?

People who've had it done... tell your stories.

i had that done years ago when i were a young lass

i think i just cleaned it with salt solution, you just dab a bit on every now and then, healed pretty quick

i got mine done 12yrs ago i think? and took it out many years ago too, and i still have a hole, so i dont think it's one that ever closes over totally

It's important to let the area "breath" and to not catch it. The area is subject to alot of movement anyhow which can cause rejection. Sunday is right, apply atleast twice a day but not table salt, only Sea Salt. One part sea salt to five parts warm water. It would be best to boil the water and let it cool but it's not essential. I suggest cotton buds and not the pads that you use to remove nail polish, as they can leave behind tiny stray fibers that can work their way into the wound.

Keep hold of the bar/ring and clean the area. Then push the bar/ring through the wound so you can clean into the wound alittle too. Abit hard to explain but I think you'll get the idea. Basicly try to keep the entire bar clean and not just around the openings.

Regarding the hole well in that area your creating a type of flesh tunnel. It can heal over completely and leave little to no scarring if you change your mind in afew years but obviously the more you leave it the less chance it will have to heal over like in sundays case. But as long as you keep it healthy the look of it even without a bar in won't matter.

Always have a spare bar. I've seen people use ear studs and rings too small as a short time measure. It WILL cause damage even if you have had it for years! And yes bars are better especialy in the begining as they will lay flat against the body giveing you less movement while the wound settles.

Good luck ^^b

If you're going to get a ring when they pierce it, be sure to wash your hands before touching it. Same goes for a barbell, but...

It's a pretty easy piercing. The only issue mine has had is when I first got it I cleaned it TOO much and it got infected.

You clean it with warm water and epson salts. I'd just put it all in a cup and lay with the cup upside down on my stomach. Then I'd use a Q-tip and Spectro Gel to clean around the hole.

Basically, what EMMAh said. Salt & warm water was the best treatment and most effective on every piercing I've had.
