| | | tattoo healing times? so i've almost finally decided what to get tattooed and where - probably a swallow on the side of my foot.
i'm thinking about getting it next weekend maybe. but i'm totally clueless about tattoos and have no idea how long it'll take to heal. i'm going on holiday in just under six weeks (five weeks by the weekend) and i'll be doing a lot of swimming in the pool and probably the sea as well.
should i leave the tattoo until i get back? cos i don't wanna FINALLY get one and then crap it up by going swimming too soon afterwards! |

| | | foot? does that mean it will be quite small?
will it all be coloured in? because the one on my back seemed to take ages to heal, i did pick it ALOT but im not sure it was more than 6 weeks? (theyre f holes about 6 inches long and about an inch wide)
but the one on my chest which is about 4 x 4 " inches but NOT filled in healed perfectly in about 2 weeks?

| | | i think you'll be completely fine
just make sure you put sunblock on it so the colour doesn't fade

| | | if you look after it well it should be fine in the time scale, the only thing is that cause it'll be on your foot, it's harder to make sure it's not getting flaked off too quickly. but that's par for the course with feet anyway. mine took about a month (on my foot) to be healed, so i guess it'll be fine. and like discolexy says, sunblock! and post pics when it's done! |

| | | Most tattoos take two weeks to heal. Make sure you don't wear shoes that rub against it while it's healing. |

| | six/five weeks is heaps of time. i was told not to immerse mine in any water for two weeks. also, i was told to expect scabbing and itching but i got neither! i bet you'll be really good like i was - no scratching and plenty of savlon - so i bet you'll have no probs. |

| | | with my latest one I was told to wrap it in clingfilm with bepathem nappy oinment underneath. Do this for 5 days (changing it 3 times a day) and it hasn't scabbed. Then just use the ointment for 5 days more with no clingfilm. This is the best one I've had heal, no scabbing and it looks really good even though its only been 6 days. |

| | | mine usually take about 2 weeks til all the scabs are gone, then a bit longer until id consider it fully healed
be warned, my foot swelled up after i got my tattoo on it! (ive got some cherries about 1&a half iches across) it was quite painful to walk on for a few days, but it looks lovely now |

| | | you can't wear anything covering them.
plus feet are stingy.
mine took a month to heal, and one got a staph infection because i wore shoes that covered theee tiniest part of the tattoo.
so good luck. feet are really 50/50 on how good they heal.
having said that, and despite my loss of color in one of them because of the infection... they're my favorite tattoos ever.

| | | Mine hasn't scabbed at all using the clingfilm and bepathem, occasionally I have a little bit of flaky skin (like sunburn peeling) but no scabs and no loss of colour. Its been over 10 days now and is healed completely. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
