i plan on getting a tattoo of a tree starting right above my hip bone on my right side up to underneath my arm. What are some ways that i could incorporate this poem into it?


on weekends, she dreams of becoming a tree
a tree that dreams it is ground up
and sent to the paper factory, where it
lie helpless in sheets, until it dreams
of becoming a paper airplane, and rises
on its own current; where it turns into a
bird, a great coasting bird that dreams of becoming
more free, even, than that--a feather, finally, or
a piece of air with lightning in it.
she has taken a woman lover
whatever can we say
she walks around all day
quietly, but underneath it
she's electric
angry energy inside a passive form.
the common woman is as common
as a thunderstorm...

it doesn't have to actually be the words. it could be a representation of the poem. if that makes sense

What you could do is maybe design a silhouette of a weeping willow and instead of bark, leaves and branches, use the words of the poem to "fill" the silhouette, the fundamental thing here is to make sure that the silhouette LOOKS like an outline of a weeping willow (or tree of your choice). You could pitch it to the tattoo artist and see if they can come up with a few rough sketches. It would be elaborate and expensive, but if you're going to ink yourself, it SHOULD be something elaborate and memorable!
