| | | Hmmm I can't decide Nothing exciting, I'm not cool enough for a tatoo or owt like that
no no no
Should I get my lip pierced? My mother, my dearest friends and my boyfriend hate the idea.
I think my boyfriend would like it when he realised it doesn't interfere with kissing.
The only support I have is one flatmate.
My mother's argument is that I had trouble with my ears and piercing, they went a bit awful for a while and shes afraid it'll happen to my lip and make me uglier. My defense is I never took care of my ears and they're okay now.
The nearest and dearest think it is childish and grotesque...we've always had opposing opinions on subjects such as these and they're very sensible types, very proper. I'm not.
I think I'd suit it personally and I've wanted my lip pierced sinse I was like fifteen...so I'm not likely to get bored of the idea after six years of wanting it.
Does it hurt much?
Does it take a long time to get used to?
If I took it out would it scar much?
Where should I get it done if I do...nice places that aren't massivly expensive in Newcastle or Edinburgh?
How much does it cost on average?
Do I actually have the balls to get it pierced?
Who can I take with me for moral support if all my friends hate the idea...any volunteers? |

| | Oh dear, I don't really take serious face shots, and I don't fancy posting pics of my friend
SO...can you judge from face pulling pics? I tend to pull these faces alot so its vital that a lip ring would complement them well...
and I don't fancy posting many more pics on kr so you get a bad old one (where lips are barely visible) and a bad hair shot.
(I don't usually squint that much)
And now I know the answer will be NOOOOOOOOOO |

Lip piercings tend to heal well, it does sting and will swell for a few days but you only get it done once. You'll be eating around it for that time but it shouldn't ever get too bad, bare in mind your mouth is flush with antibodies. Once its healed it just sort of flops around, infact you can just tug at it painlessly like it's your earlobe or something.
Have you tried on an empty BCR ring on for size? See what your bf/friends think of you with it on. I mean really, it's a pretty conservative piercing these days but I generally think it suits most people.
It sounds like something you want and unless you've got some work reason for not having it I'd go for it.

| | | it doesn't hurt (and i'm a huge wuss)
and it's good in that you can take it out when you're fed-up of it
although i took mine out about a year ago and that hole's still on my chinny-chin-chin
it is a dead easy piercing to look after...
and it's not really upto your friends/mum/whoever...if you really want it, then you should do it |

| | | I would go for it. The only thing that that I would say is that it will chip at your teeth. Its not as bad as having a tongue ring, cause then you have to live on soup for aggges. |

| | | It's a pretty easy piercing to heal. Get it done with a stud though, because rings are pretty awkward. Even now, 4 years on, I don't wear rings because I find they get in the way.

| | | mmm I'm still quite torn
Not long after starting this thread I went to newcastle and I swear every other person I saw was a sixteen year old emo with a lip piercing and it really really put me off
but yesterday i was chatting to a friend who has two lip piercings and he told me to get it done anyway, fuck how many other people have it, it shouldn't be about them its all about me.
So I'm reconsidering.
I wish I wasnt a big pussy about these things too. |

| | | meh get it pierced who cares at worst remove it.
I've had it for like three years, and I love it. I tried wearing the ring a few times though, and altough i love it on other people, I don't think it's my thing. |

| | | I think you should do it. Tell whoever has issues that they're get used to it. I have a guy friend and a girl friend with their lips pierced and I don't even notice they have it done anymore. It becomes part of your face.
Get a ring.
