| | | idea.. ok, i want some opinions on this before i go get it designed because im REALLY excited about the idea, but im not sure how its gonna look? my mum said it'll be ugly but she always hates my tattoos so her opinion is invalid.
ANYWAY the other night i decided i want a coat of arms kinda thing on the top of my back, but all representing things to do with me, and in a retro 50's kinda style cuz i love it.so it'll have a shield in the middle, with an L on it (cuz im called Laura) and cherries around it (im obsessed with them) with dice reading 23 (my birthdate and lucky number) i want a banner underneath reading 'saint or celebrity' (my favourite scarling. lyric) and pin up girls on either side (one all blonde and sweet looking, the other slutty and clutching a bottle of vodka..my drink of choice).now i really want it, and i dont normally think about whether ill regret it in the future..but pin up girls? i dont wanna end up looking like an uberdyke or amy winehouse or something.
so yeah, what do you think? and anyone who knows me..can you think of anything else i should include? id like to put something to do with my starsign, but as its taurus thats a bit difficult, i dont want a fucking bull on my back!! |

| | | There's a saying that tattoo artists use, which is "you're trying to put 10 pounds of shit into a 5 pound bag." That's not to say that your idea is shit. But it sounds like you're putting all these different ideas into one tattoo and it would look kinda busy and have too many different things crammed into one space. |

They're good ideas just I'm not sure how it would look all together. Maybe draw a rough sketch of it to see if thats what you really want? |

| | | for it to look good it would have to be a big tattoo as all that detail wouldnt fit on a small one. If you were planning on going to eftn they'd say the exact same thing.

but you have a point.i might get the dice seperately.and i got cherries on my foot a couple of days ago
i just really like the idea of a coat of arms, but with pin up girls instead of lions or whatever? im hoping to speak to jeff (at evil from the needle in camden) about it on wednesday, he is amazing. |

| | well i like the general idea, i think it sounds like it could be pretty cool.
if you go and talk to jeff about it, i am sure you two will come up with a solution that looks good...
aout the pin up girls: a tattoo with them does not make a dyke imo. nor does it make an amy winehouse.
you are way too cute to be either |

I think the main thing to worry about os the size of the tattoo....if its kinda big there's a bigger regret risk. |

| | | How long have you actually had this idea? If you just thought of it a few days ago, you should definitely wait a few months and then see if you still want it. I can't even count how many different tattoo ideas I've wanted and then realized were stupid after a few weeks or months. I'd never get a tattoo when I'd only thought of the idea a few days ago. I always think it over for a few months. |

| | knowing Jeff it'll take longer. But it'll be worth it!!!
Make sure you go see the design once its ready and get him to photocopy it. then you can take it away and really think about if thats exactly what you want! I did that with Mary and put the photocopy on the wall, so everyday when i woke up there it was. Its the best way of making sure you are 100% happy with what he has drawn!!
