| | | My new tattoo So... Friday I took my Registration exam to become a Registered Dietitian. It was a big day, and of course I passed, and I was very very excited.
I partied hearty and got my friends to buy me shots and it was merry.
But I wanted to commemorate the occasion with something better than a hangover. SO I got a new tattoo.
I am copying this story from my LJ so apologies if you are stalking me and already read it:
Zinnias are my favorite flower. Always have been. I love them.
Nobody probably knows that, because who talks about their favorite flower in casual conversation?
So at my internship graduation they did this presentation comparing each of the interns to a flower. Mine was the zinnia, much to my delight, because as I have now explained, they are my favorite.
Their reasons were that zinnias are bright, drought-resistant (I was very adaptable during the internship and pretty much put up with anything, because I rule), and because they're native to Mexico (I did a lot of translation during the internship as well - Spanish menus, a Spanish seminar, and handout translations. Plus I talked about going out for Mexican food all the time, ha).
I'd like to add that Zinnias attract butterflies and thrive in containers.
So without further ado, I would like to present my freaking AMAZING Zinnia that was done by Steve at Toucan Tattoo in Gloucester Pt, VA.
Now I will be the first to LOL at my freckly back, but you have to admit boy did a bitching job on this flower. He is my hero and I'm gonna let him make something cooler out of my now-dorky-by-comparison butterfly. |

| | | Congratulations on passing your test thingy! I wouldn't particularly get that as a tattoo, but it seems to be something that you have your own loveclub over, and thats the main thing! It is done pretty neatly though! |

Thanks |

hey lemme ask \
how many calories a day should a full grown man that is physicaly active intake? does walking a couple miles a day and gym (running and weights 3x a week) count as active?imm sure it does these days.
also, and ive been pondering this for some time now....
in terms of lessser of two evils.....
which is worse? light beer or clear liquor? basically light beer vs vodka?
also, sometimes beofre the gym i drink a diet rockstar, and i noticed that, bypassing the glory of no calories or carbs, its LOADED with sodium!!!!!!! fuck. right?
what are some natural ways that i can boost my energy levels right before im in the gym getting my work out on?
im thinking coffee or something?
lately ive been taking this thing i got from the vitamin store, its called Sublingual B Total. and its full of b12. is this a good thing? i feel better from it but maybe its a placebo effect?
also, what ive been wondering, those fish oil pills, opinions? |

I would call that active and congrats on taking good care of your body
As for booze, which do you drink more of? What do you mix with your vodka? I find that when I have liquor I usually drink more and mix it with stupid things, whereas beer lets me pace myself. Splitting a pitcher with my friend is less than drinking a margarita and taking 4 shots.
I don't really know anything about the diet rockstar, you are "allowed" about 2300 mg of sodium a day.. it's in pretty much everything naturally, and of course unnatural processed foods have a lot more. How much is in one of these things? Energy drinks scare me
Natural ways to boost energy - eat a small snack. Get your blood sugar up. Have something with carbs and protein so that your sugar doesn't spike and then crash. Caffeine will give you energy but you may get fatigued later because your blood sugar is low.
B12 is okay but if you eat meat and eggs you probably get enough. You pee out the excess because it is a water-soluble vitamin. I would recommend just a good-old centrum or whatever multivitamin. You're probably getting enough vitamins and minerals from your diet but it can't hurt. I take a multi and sometimes super B complex if I am feeling extra crappy because the pill can cause b6 deficiency and so I'm convinced I MUST have that deficiency. Again, any excess is exceted in the urine so it's all ok.
Fish oil is good if you don't eat a lot of fish. Good omega threes. I tried to take them but they gave me horrific indigestion. Burping up fish oil all day is the grossest thing ever. If you buy quality capsules and not random ones from Target like I did, you may be safe. |

| oh thats good to know. im sort of going through a mild cleanse, detox. barely hitting 2000 calories a day i think. Quote: |

| usually i like my vodka straight up and chilled but i usually drink it with diet tea or cranberry juice. Quote:

| i dont mind being fatigued as long as i kicked ass at the gym. Quote: |

| i bought this because i hear that during the hight of cokes popularity, people would take b12 shots the next day in order to feel better. that that im a coke head but i though id give it a go. i do honestly feel better since taking it. Quote: |

| | | I LOVE answering nutrition questions that aren't "how do I lose weight?"
Whenever I meet people they are always eating, and when they ask what I do, they immediately go "Oh, so I shouldn't be eating this, huh?"
:-/
You're great. |

| | Haha, I like how this tattoo thread turned into nutrition Q&A. Love the tattoo, it looks really good and its cool that its so significant. I get kinda weirded out by "Well I think daisies are perdy so I got a ring of them around my belly, teehee."
Hey, but while we're also on the subject of diet/nutrition questions... so I work with this elderly man who is 79 and diabetic. He used to be obese, like upwards of 300 pounds, but after a major illness he became very thin (this was a few years ago). Right now he's at about 135, but whats strange to me is that he's lost about twelve pounds since May. The doctor says we shouldn't worry and that its just a part of his aging process. Um, is that right? It seems like a lot of weight for the ole fella. Or do they really mean "he's dying" but they don't want to put it that way? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
