so I've had my tattoo for almost two years. Not many people know, only my closest friends and my lovers

any way. I never told my parents or anyone in my family because they're all pretty standard, boring people and would think it's awful and everything.

So yea, it was never really a problem because they can never see it (it's on my hip, underneath most of my underwear) but now I'm thinking I should tell them... I dunno why really....
I just feel bad hiding it maybe?
But then I think: why would I tell them? It's none of their business and it doesn't bother them because they can't see it right?

But then I'm afraid that maybe some day I'll have an accent and my parents will have to identify me or sth and they find out I have a tattoo and my mom will be really hurt I never told her?

lol. I dunno. pretty far-fetched uh?

The tattoo is also kinda silly. I mean, it has a big meaning to me, but the design is just funny really. It was really an impulsive thing. I'd liked the idea of a tattoo for a while but I just thought of what I wanted and two days later I was having it done...
haha. I don't regret it yet though...but you know. I might have it removed some day if I'm sick of it or don't like it any more... With technology these days even tattoos aren't permanent any more.

I used to tell my mum when I got a new tattoo, but realised that meant she'd want to see them, when we eventually met, and they're on my arms, which I hide.

My dad knows I have a couple (he's seen photos accidentally), but I'd never "flaunt" them in front of him, as he's pretty anti-body modification and thinks it's a "stupid, childish" thing for teenagers.

i have 6 tattoos, and my mom only knew about the first two for a while. one night i just showed them to her. she didnt really care, especially since we were both drinking a bot. i then decided 'why not tell her about my nipple rings too?'.

it was no big deal.

it may change the way they think about tattoos ... my husband's parents were like that, but then we he got piercings tattoos and weird colored hair they changed the way they thought about " freaks" my mom doesn't really like my " bastard " tattoo, but she made one comment and that was the end of it. she doesn't think im a bad person for it. She wasn't thrilled about it either.

Just tell your parents. It's not such a big thing anymore.
It might sort of help to ease them into it. For example, when I told my mum about my first tattoo, I rang her up and said "Which of the following would you prefer to be true, a) I dropped out of university, b) I got a tattoo, c) I'm pregnant?" She took it really well.

My fathers completely against tattoos.
But me and my mom are going together to get tatts on mah birfday next month.

I have four and my olds know about two of them... my first one cause my mum practically dared me to do it, and the second one cause it's on my wrist and visible. The second two are secret cause they have stories behind them that I don't want to have to explain. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I got in an accident or went missing or something and my corpse was horribly maimed and had to be identified and my mum would say "No, my daughter doesn't have an anchor tattoo on her leg, it's not her" and then I'll end up in an unmarked grave or something.

my mom is really cool about stuff like that. she went with me to get my first tattoo and i went with her to get hers.

i only have one tattoo and my mum went with me when i got it. she wasn't keen on the idea, but i needed her to go with me because i didn't know how to get to the tattoo place.
i'm going to get a butterfly on my foot and i'm going to get her to go with me for that too 'cause i still don't know how to get to the tattoo place.
then i'm gonna get a gun on my hip, but i don't think i'll let her know about that one. hopefully by then i'll know how to get there.

My mum is totally anti tattoo's, thinks they are trashy and awful. I on the other hand love them and am covered in them. The mother has got better at excepting the way my body is now. She even likes the ones on my feet. But i know she'd prefer it if i didnt have any.

i got my only tattoo done with my father, who at the age of forty decided to get two half sleeves completed in the next five years (he's half way through the second atm). neither of my parents are anti-tattoo AT ALL, although they probably wouldn't be too impressed if i came home with a gang patch tattooed on my forehead.

My parents both hate tattoos, but my mom will at least look at them... my dad told me flat out he didn't want to ever see them so I wear a sweatshirt when I'm around him if I think they're visible. I do it out of respect, but I think he'd like them if he saw them.

my dad is a biker and has a big tattoo of an eagle on his arm, lolz

my father has more tattoo's than I do (I have 2) and he only got his first after he retired.

so neither of my parents were bothered that I got my first or my second, or plan on having more.

my mother doesnt really mind what i get, but my stepdad really hates peircings/tattoos, he's sort of given up on me now though, he doesnt notice when i come home with more peircings anymore theres too many haha

I wanted to get one when I was younger and one of the reasons I didn't was because I thought my mother would be really against it. Then she paid for my brother to get one for his 18th birthday and paid again for one for his 19th If you tell your parents they probably won't be as bothered as you think.

My stepdad (err....ex-stepdad) hated them too. I used to get emails from my stepbro when he was living with them asking advice on good places to get easily-hideable tattoos

when i got a tattoo on my ankle i went home and showed my mom, and she was all excited, saying how pretty it was, then she goes "how long does it last?" thinking it was a temporary one.

when i told her it was real (hence the swelling and redness) she didn't speak to me for a week.

she got over though, and every tattoo i've had since then she just says oh that's nice...and moves on.
