| | | ooh we have the same birthday, well not the year but the day...
um, anyway it doesn't hurt at all really. it's pretty quick and over before you've even noticed they are doing anything. It can swell though, but you can use anti swelling pills for that or eat lots of ice and ice lollys. Soft foods are best for the first few days and nothing with too much spice. Um, soups, mashed potatoes, ice cream etc...
Make sure you go to a decent place as it's important it's pierced in the right place as there's a big vein that runs through the bottom of your tongue...and they dont want to be piercing that.
It's a good idea to rinse your mouth with mouthwash after everything you eat and drink (unless it's water). Smoking isn't great for the piercing, although as long as you're careful you should be ok..my ex boyfriend smokes like a train and his piercing was fine and healed normally.

| | | I'll add tins of that Nourishment stuff and maybe other milkshake type things if it gets agrivated at all.
Most piercers seem to recommend saline solution (i.e. warm saltwater) over mouthwashes as they can slow the healing process by cleaning out the bits the tissue is trying to repair or something. I think a mouthwash will have less possiblity of infection though. |

| | | I used mouth wash for both of mine and i never had any problems. It kinda makes your tongue discoloured for a bit because you have to use it so much.
I also smoked when i had both of mine and they were finnnne.
It doesn't really hurt, it's just uncomfortable for a while.

| | it doesn't hurt much when they do it but mine HURT LIKE HELL for the first few days, it swelled up a lot & i couldn't talk properly, had to eat through a straw.but once it healed it was fine! make sure you get it changed after the first few weeks when the swelling has gone down, the bar they pierce it with is so long that i nearly chipped a tooth on mine.it's kinda weird learning how to eat with it but you get used to it pretty quickly
i used mouthwash, they just told me to use a non alcoholic one cuz apparently ones with alcohol in can dry out the piercing. |

| | | um the stud obviously shouldn't rust. if his did, then it was really shitty quality. i had one for 4 years and nothing like that ever happened.

| | my piercer told me to avoid beer for a month after i got mine done because it could cause a yeast infection in my tongue. don't know how accurate that is- but needless to say i didn't want to find out so i just heeded her advice.
she also told me not to drink other alcohols for two weeks due to swelling. well i didn't listen to her and two days later i was at the bar drinking and i literally felt my tongue swell up in my mouth and i couldn't talk right for the rest of the night.
oh well, two years later i still have my tongue pierced and everything is healed perfectly. |

| | | yeah,. you can drink alchohol but its becuase it dehydrates you, if your going to drink after tongue peircing, drink water in between drinks, and it wont swell up |

| | | i'm bumping this thread as i have a few questions about tongue piercings you guys may be able to help me out with..
i used to have mine pierced until about a year ago i took it out for the dentist and it healed up, is it possible to get it re-pierced?
also i now have porcelein veneers on my front teeth after i cracked one, is it safe to have the tongue piercing without breaking my teeth? would it be better to put a small bar in to lessen the risk?
(since i cracked my front tooth i've been uber paranoid about breaking one again!) | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
