| | | Tattoo Tipping Etiquette so i have never had to do 2 sittings for a tattoo
and i am wondering what the tipping policy would be for that.
do i tip after both sittings, or after the last one?
and how much do you all tip.
i dont want to offend.
thanks

| | | I have 9 tattoos, and have never tipped for one. Tattoos are expensive enough if you go to a decent place, I've never even given it a thought. Perhaps I'm just a tight cow! |

| | | i think america is a far more tip-based society. for some reason we need that extra pat on the back. so now it's not only expected when you get served by a waiter, but when a bartender makes you a drink, you get your hair done, you get pierced, you get your car washed, you get tattooed. etc.
so i think. maybe in some countries it's not a big deal if you tip. though if you're american, you are being rude if you don't. |

i noticed they weren't too big on it in england.
i've just never heard about tipping your tattoo artist. i guess it's not something they write about in etiquette books.

strangley enough, i have found a fair amount of info indicating you 'should' tip, and i have in the past. im not overly concerned about the amount, more about if i should tip after both sessions, or just when its done... |

But I'd tip when the tattoo was finished.
I was reading something on tipping etiquette the other day. You should tip the first trip & the last trip, for trips in between you don't have to tip. If you only make two trips - you should tip both trips. |

| | | american wages are low and in a lot of professions that's based on the fact that people top up their earnings from tips, which is basically mandatory. In England it's considered preferable but certainly not mandatory. And if you tip there, even in a restaurant, 10% is totally acceptable. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
