I hate to blither on about the Master Cleanse yet again, but the drink DOES loosen up impacted phlegm. Eat as you normally do, but avoid dairy and cheese like the plague, they will only contribute to the mucus. Have maybe two or three of the Master Cleanse drinks a day which consist of:
1 x 12 oz mineral water
1 x tsp lemon juice
1 x tbsp maple syrup
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Try to up the level of cayenne pepper as much as you can tolerate it, this is the main ingredient, followed by the lemon juice. I can, when on the cleanse, easily work up to just over 1/4 a tsp of cayenne pepper.
