They kill millions of people worldwide every year, and they don't get you high.

I'm bored of hearing people say oh addiction is a disease and so on ... I'm not saying it is, and I'm not saying it's not.

BUT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HAVE QUIT SMOKING.

If you have people you love in your life, you should be able to quit so you can be there for them as long as possible. It's not that big of a deal.

It is really stupid, what ****es me off most is people who take it up when they are 18 or over. Its like okay, when you are 12-13 you are pretty ****ing stupid and you probably think its cool and lack the foresight to see that the benefits you get from it are pretty non-existant and the pay-off is huge. And thus if you become addicted at 13, you didn't know better when you started.

But when you are 18 and you take it up its like, how stupid AND lame are you? Its like, oooo I'll be cool by getting an addiction where I get next to nothing off it save the desire not to have another cigarette for an hour of so.

I mean at least save up the ****ing pennies and get a proper drug habit if you want an addiction.

I heard that if you haven't started by the time you're 18, you'll probably never start. There are the exceptions though, obviously.

If I could go back I never would have started.

I also know that I could quit if I really tried, but that hasn't even happened and to be honest I don't know what I'd do with myself if I quit. Sooo, another day.

I'm only 19 and I can tell you righ tnow it doesn't make you 'cool' because you smoke, or at the very least it DEFINITELY doesn't make you 'uncool' if you don't. Nobody cares that matters. I always hated smoking even when people around me did and no one ever thought I was lame for disliking it.

I thin it's just a selfish habit. I saw on the news that like 30 something thousand people a year in America die from SECOND-HAND SMOKE.

Well I saw your thread title and only thought well done on the most obvious statement ever in history.

But you're ignoring something that seems pretty obvious to me as a smoker... that people actually enjoy it?

I enjoy it as much now as someone at the kind of age where they ought to know better, as I did as an impressionable 14 year old. I took up smoking as a full time serious habit at about 19 btw.
