it's half torn off below the quick, so i've been holding it onto my skin with a band aid.

would it be better to try & cut it off? should i go to a dr.? i'm afraid of infection.

i thought i'd just pour alcohol over it 3 x a day & change the band aid. is witch hazel better? what about anti biotic cream?

i'm afraid it'll rip off & the other side will tear lower & make it worse.

please help.

any time i've smashed a nail up, the whole thing kind of dies bit by bit and comes off within the space of about 2 wks

it'll do that, just keep it clean

i didnt even bother to keep my fingernail especially clean when it was falling off, and i didnt die so, cleaning is a semi priority and taking pics to put on kr is a def priority

how awful! thanks for the advice. i had a feeling letting it dry out & do it's thing was right.

but half my nail is still attached!
i think i'll keep on the band aids until it grows to the quick. but let it get a bit of air.

Band-aid it while you sleep so you don't catch it if you move around.
and when you're outside in the germy air.
