just leave it alone (except for keeping it clean). it'll heal itself. if you're worried about infection, use a dab of lavender oil as an antiseptic, but not 3 times a day. you need to give it a chance to heal up naturally. they're designed to do that.

Amity, you get it, but what i'm trying to do is let it grow out, cos there's a chip on top & if it catches on something & rips, it will be agony.

but this is what i get for using my nails for a tool to remove a key. ow!
