1 friend had it last week or the week before. her boyfriend has it now. someone I played poker with the other day came down with it a few days after. one of the girls I work with has it at the moment. the promoter I worked for the other night had just gotten over it.

Someone at work has it (not someone who regularly goes on the wards, surprisingly), but other than that I don't know anyone who has.

I'm not worried in the slightest. According to the NHS website, the mortality rate is 0.4%, with a qualifier that this is based on confirmed cases only - basicallly they expect that a lot of people will get or will have had the disease and not been aware of it, so the figure's likely to be a considerable over-estimate. Whereas in one of the hospitals in the county, the staff all got called in to some meeting about the contigency plan for when they lose 10% of staff due to death and which cupboards they're going to use to stack the bodies in when the morgues overflow. Fucking idiots.

They think i have it atm I haven't been allowed out for three days now. But I woke up this morning and my tongue is all ulcerated and swallon so i'm pretty sure its the yearly appearance of Glandular fever I'm lucky enough to have. I get to see the doctor later, LIKE FACE TO FACE, but its after the evening surgery so that no one else is around. I bet they pull out the SARS masks. Now I know how it feels to be the tree man

My friend had mumps and after she visited her GP they pretty much burnt everything in the waiting room and put huge warning notices everywhere. She lived in a small village. I think it was pretty embarrassing.

How do you feel punksnotdead? I quite like all the people going "Oh this is much worse than regular flu, I was in bed for days" and I want to go, no, regular flu keeps you in bed for days, what you are comparing it with is a cold.

Don't know why healthy people are worried. I'm fucked if I get it because I have heinous asthma and have nearly died of a cold- twice. But I think all this "avoid public transport, don't reopen the schools thing" is a bit OTT. I mean the UK has had what- 30 deaths were the person was infected with H1N1- so that doesn't even guarentee its the cause. And normally 8,000 people a year die of regular flu in the UK. But those are generally old people and harshly no one cares about the aged.

Honestly, I dont feel any worse than I do when I get Glandular fever. The only thing that has been specifically horrible was waking up this morning and not being able to talk. The horrible bit was after i had a cup of tea and coughed up a massive ball of green crap. I could talk again after, that was nice.

I just wish I could go out again im really lonely!
