Well 75% of people have antibodies to it by the time they reach their teenage years- toddlers are covered in it. You are most likely fine, sharing a drink/straw means you are likely to have got very little spit anyway so I think you'll be fine. There is nothing they can do from an early blood test anyway, so you might as well wait.

You shouldn't worry so much about getting sick, unless you have some "serious" reason why.

I share drinks/cigarettes/yaddayadda with sick people all the time and only get one cold a year if that.

i had it junior year in high school and got to take all my finals at home
i was out for the last couple months of the year, i thought it was supposed to be highly contagious ?
