I just started playing the guitar (started with a steel string acoustic) and after two weeks of intense 'fingertip pain' (yes, pity me) I now have ugly calluses. But at least I can play without bleeding now.

Sometimes I kinda like them because they make me feel like a rock star but other times I just want a manicure and go back to being a lady.

Also, I have long nails on one hand and short nails on the other. I want someone to stop me in a bar and say hey, look at your fingers, are you a guitarist, that is so fucking cool man. Rad, yeah.

I guess in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter a fuck. Who is ever going to look at my fingertips?

I'm not sure if removing the calli (is that proper plural?) will make it hurt again. You can use an electric guitar or nylon instead if you want to not have calli and play guitar

I would do that. I'd even say "rad." But I'm a dork, so I don't know that you'd be flattered.

Since I started playing guitar, like 14 years ago I have nails so short that people cringe. I don´t have calluses anymore, obviously, because they sort of become permanent. But I spent all day recording, and I haven´t been playing as often lately, and I am playing acoustic, and I really dislike the sound of nylon strings so the steel ones left some weird grey holes on my fingers, it´s sexy, but no handjobs tonight.

Playing the violin and piano from a young age means I habitually cut my nails extremely short. Also, in my experience, the grossness of new-guitar-player callouses doesn't really compare to vibrato callouses.
