Re-pierced ear pain

So I had my ears repierced 6 weeks ago. I had it first done about 5 years ago, but had stopped wearing earrings...

My left hole was still fine so they just put one of those sterile studs in, but they did have to re-pierce my right hole.
Ever since then it's been not doing so well I think. It's fine when I keep the sterile studs in, but when I take them out to put in others it hurts to put in the different ones.
It's like it's infected, but I don't really know what to do. I have used this anti-infection cream (same one they use at the piercing place) but it doesn't seem to help....I really wanna start wearing normal earrings again!

maybe yr ears are sensitive now? i dunno if it changes, could you wear non gold earrings the first time round?

i can only wear gold, otherwise they go itchy and pussy and gross. and i have had them pierced for farking years. woe.

or maybe you havent left them long enough to heal?

it obviously hasnt healed yet. your supposed to leave the piercing for 6 weeks before you even try and change it. thats probably why its infected?

but it was in for like 6 weeks...
also, when I touch my earlobe I can feel a bump in there, sort of big...not the kind you can normally have whn you get your ears pierced...

The lump is maybe either scar tissue from the original piercing or a little cyst. I have one ear piercing that has just never healed right, I can only wear surgical steel earrings in it, anything else and it gets all red itchy and sore immediately.

Have you tried using methylated spirits on it to disinfect?
