I've been thinking on-and-off about getting one for a year or so, gauging opinions, being indecisive, and thought I'd gauge some more on here. What do you think of them? Is it (as I've been wondering) a bit disgusting to have to put a finger up your nose to stick a ring in? Are they trashy? Do they leave a really obvious mark if you decide to take them out for good? How are workplaces about it? I'm going to be working for my MP for a month in summer and I suppose that has to be a consideration.

My style is kind of folky/vintage/prints and I have really long hair, probably going to get a fringe done soon. If I can find a face pic and people think it would help in judging whether one would suit me (is there a particular type of face nose piercings look best on?) then I'll stick one up. I've seen nose piercings look variously charming and vile; it seems to completely depend on the wearer. I don't much like studs and would have a ring.

Edit: Also, about the pain...clearly putting metal through your nose hurts, but lots? I don't have my ears done because it's never appealed, so don't have the typical point of comparison...I'm a bit of a wuss...I realise this is a bit of a silly point to add, like my asking my philosophy tutor if his third year Sartre is 'hard'.

dont worry about the pain, its over in 5 seconds pretty much. some piercers can put weird numbing stuff on it anyway, (that doesnt really work but hey..) it sounds like it would suit you. do it id say? nose piercings typically close up really easily if you take it out/it falls out

Yeah they close easily but you have a tiny dot/scar there. Not very noticable. I have two piercings on the left side and never have any trouble with them.

It hurts a little bit and if your eyes water that is only because it's breaking through the inside of your nostril and anything cutting there tends to make your eyes water.

I have only ever seen one gross nose piercing, and the hole was so big you could see inside the woman;'s nose through it. She's a nasty coke head biker chick though, so I wouldn't worry about getting a big hole like her's. She is the most fucked person I have ever met.

I'm getting mine done when I get my tax money back.
