its a contraceptive device that is implanted in the uterus. it also secretes progesterone so it's excellent birth control. it stays in for five years and docs DO NOT like to take it out early so if you want to get preg in like a year don't get it. very few side effects. inserted in the dr office with a little cramping. looks like a T. sometimes it can poke your man's pecker if hes hung.

Same as devillish said, also google is your friend. I've read mixed things about it, some have no problems, others have increased pain and heavier periods. Also if you are in the u.k doctors generally won't use any iud style device unless you have already had children or another uterine problem and seeing a gyneacologist.

I have one in and have done for about 2 years now. I love it. It was agony for the first 2 months but it settled down and now I have no more period pains and no more periods.

What's this stuff about it's best if you've already had kids? Is it because women who've birthed babies have different vaginas? Or is it that knee-jerk family crap about how they want to be sure that you won't change your mind and decide to have kids? I don't want kids (kind of can't have them, but that's not the point), but the pill caused enough issues in my lady regions that I won't go back on it. I like the idea that there's something with less hormones that isn't a daily thing to remember.
