Invisalign

I'm thinking about getting the Invisalign braces to straighten out a couple of my teeth. Has anyone here had Invisalign? I was curious to see how well it worked.

yeah, i did. it worked just as well as regular braces would, i would imagine, but they were much more of a hassle. every time you eat you have to take them off, brush your brush your teeth when you finish eating, clean the braces and then put them back in. so that means you have to have good will power too, because you can just take them out whenever you want, and i always did (i was like 13 or some shit) it might not work as fast.

so if you're not a kid and you're genuinely concerned about your appearance, i would go with it. but if you're 16 or something just do regular braces.

I didn't know what invisalign was, so I looked it up. They just look like the retainers my orthodontist gave me to keep my teeth in line after I had my braces removed.. so, I don't really see how they could make much of a difference if your teeth were very wonky. and sometimes it isn't just a case of straightening out the teeth. sometimes there's other work to be done, you know when you see kids with those like.. wire braces with the plastic thing that goes on the roof of the mouth? but you said you only want to sort out a couple of teeth so it probably won't be a problem. I bet they're proper expensive though. Go and talk to your dentist and then report back! I'm kind of intrigued now..[/essay]

How crooked do teeth have to be in order to be able to use them? I always thought they were for small problems. For example, my aunt had braces back in the day, but now her teeth started separating again [she used to have a gap between her two front teeth] so she is using invisalign to keep them together. They are working for her. I don't know how much she pays for them, and just like earthcrosser said, they seem like more of a hassle than having regular braces.

I currently have them on my top teeth and it's really only to push one tooth into place. And I have ceramics on the bottom, because I had a tooth coming in sideways and invisalign definitely wouldn't have worked. The only reason I opted for the invisalign was because I really wasn't feeling going into college with a mouth full of metal.
It is a hassle taking it in and out when you eat, but I can only imagine it would be more of a hassle having nasty food stuck in your braces all the time. And you really do have to have that willpower to keep them in. It's not uncomfortable, but sometimes I just keep it out for hours and they feel tight when I put it back in. Whoopsie.

Did anyone else find it painful when you got a new set at first? It hurts me so bad I cry.
