I have been having brown colored discharge/bleeding for the past few days and was told I am having a threatened miscarriage when I went to the emergency room.

What are the chances of the baby surviving if I already saw the heartbeat? Does that even matter? They told me my cervix was close and everything seemed fine, but they put me on bed rest.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't know about this but please follow the doctor's advice.

My best friend just had a miscarriage... she was in her first three months though so it's kind of common but still very sad

Love, it's ok. I went through the exact same thing just two weeks ago. i had blood and i was 6 weeks pregnant. [well 5 weeks and 5 days]. I waited in the emergency room for 9 hours, had an ultrasound and all sorts of things to see if everything was ok. They told me it was. Lots of women bleed in the early stages of pregnancy and go on to have perfectly fine pregnancies that produce happy, healthy babies. Some women even get a period. It can be normal but I know how frightening it is. I cried my eyes because I thought I lost my baby. Keep your feet up and look after yourself.

They call it "spotting" kind of like a "mini-period" and is perfectly normal.

Yeah I just went to a follow up APP today and the dr told me basically what you said. Perhaps the emergency room doctors aren't well versed when it comes to pregnancies and that is why they told me it was a threatened miscarriage.

Everything is fine though, thank God!
