ok period/pill question...

i'm sure this has been done but i am confused so i must ask the enlightened beings at kr.

ok i'm 25 and have been on the pill for like six years with no breaks. never had any problems. so i'm on sugar pill week and i got my period as usual, except yeah it only lasted one day, really light. wtf is that???? is that abnormal???? am i ill??????

it's not stress or anything like that, everything is pretty much the same as it has been... what do you make of this?

My friend told me the other day that taking the pill for six years or more without any breaks will make you infertile. I know not if it be true but I just thought I'd put it out there.

Hmmm. One day does seem awfully short. And from the way it sounds, this has never happened before. I don't know, I might check with a nurse. But that's just because mine are usually 5-7 days long and, to put it lightly, not light (ha). So, uh, yeah. I don't know what yours are like normally, but it seems from your abundance of question marks that you're pretty concerned. I'd see a nurse. But maybe someone else will come on here who knows a lot more about it than I do and say its normal and okay and don't worry. I do not know.

It is definitely not infertility, that is complete bullshit. If it was, there wouldn't be so many paranoid people that have been knocked up because they missed a pill. There is also no biological way that hormone pill induced infertility could work. My friend used to take a pill called Lomygon or something and she only ever had 12 hour periods on it. I think it was just because the pill makes the lining of your womb very thin so it doesn't need a lot of shedding, so there isn't a lot of bleeding. If you had a period, even a 12 hour one, it seems highly unlikely you are pregnant (unless you skipped a pill/ were on antibiotics/ had vomming and diarrhoea this month) so I wouldn't worry about being up the chuff too much. If you are worried though, phone and talk to whoever provides you with the pill.

you're right that infertility thing made no sense and thank you for pointing that out. yeah i'm not worried about pregnancy really, i just thought maybe something was going awry. whatever i'll just wait till next month and see what happens.

SORRY for the unnecessary juggling smiley that spaced that last line out, but you still could have actually read my entire post and seen that the last line was part of a sentence which was part of a paragraph that clearly indicated that MY opinion was not that you were fine, but that you should see a nurse.

Oh. Sorry, I guess I read your "clearly misread you" as sarcasm. My mistake.

Anyway, no hard feelings, I hope, and I do hope your vag is ok.
