Fine Needle Aspiration

I have swollen lymph glands in my neck. They have been there for a year, they don't hurt or anything, they are just hard and very there. After checking for HIV/Hep B/Hep C, they decided the next best thing to do would be jab it with a needle to see if there is any cancer in there. I wasn't too worried about this because I have had it done before and it didn't really hurt because they gave me a local anaesthetic (I had a lump between two ribs). So yesterday morning, in I pottered, and NO ANAESTHETIC, he just grabs my lymph node, really hard (don't know if you have ever had your lymph nodes pinched before) and then rammed the needle into it. And it REALLY hurt. Were it not for the fact he was mere milimeters away from very important parts of my neck, I probably would have jumped up and run away. It must have hit some weird nerve because it made my whole face and my filling hurt as well as my neck. And then he said to make sure they had enough cells, he should probably do it again. Which he did. And it was just that painful again.

Is it standard to do this without local anaesthetic? Was I just spoilt the first time round?

Swollen glands? glandular fever?

I would of thought he would of given a local anaesthetic, maybe he was just being a bastard.

Definitely not glandular fever, I have been tested loads for it, plus I think I gave my dad glandular fever when I was a toddler (cause in kids, it is just like a cold- he was somewhat unamused when he fell in at the age of 36 especially when the doctor told him he thought it must be this new disease "AIDS"). They are a bit stumped to what it might be. Because I have a cough as well, they reckon maybe TB. Or some sort of slow growing lymphatic cancer. I am pumping for neither really, but maybe the TB slightly over the cancer...

i had to have that cuz i had a lump in my neck last year, cant remember if they gave me local anaesthetic, it really hurt though, i've never felt so uncomfortable (except when they gave me an endoscopy for the same problem, that was horrid) & the guy had to do it twice cuz he fucked up the first time & didnt get enough cells, i guess that happens a lot? turns out the lump in mine was just cuz i had an infected helix piercing, as soon as i took it out the lump went away
