Shoulder Pains

At night I can sleep in any position and be comfortable, but I often wake up around 5.30am, hours before I have to get up, and I cannot get back to sleep because my arms and shoulders hurt no matter what way I lie. I can't lie on my sides because my arms get all tingly and sore, and if I lie on my back pain shoots down from my shoulders. I have no problems during the day.

I've had back/neck problems in the past - whiplash in a car accident, and the combination of a small frame with big boobs, but I've never had any treatment.

Does anyone know any good exercises I can do to stop this from happening, or exercises that will relieve the pain in the morning so I can get back to sleep?

Sometimes if I sleep on my back directly it helps with shoulder pain. Try stretching it maybe?

Yoga.

This is kind of hard to explain but it's a shoulder stretch. Place your hands behind your back and put them together like in prayer, fingers pointed towards the floor. Then turn them upwards so the sides of your palms against your spine. Then kind of walk the clasped hands up the spine a bit. Once there up a ways, try to bring your elbows outwards like you were trying to touch them together.

Cheers, I'm going to try to add some yoga into my exercise routine. I think my back is just wrecked, my posture is fucked so maybe if work on it I won't be in the pain I was in at 5am this morning!

i've been having this problem lately.
i bought a therapeutic memory foam pillow today and i'm hoping it rids, or at least alleviates, whatever is happening.

if not, i'm going to see jose on the corner.

That's probably my problem actually, my orthopaedic pillow is squished and has reached the end of it's usefulness. I can't afford another one though, and if I did have the money I'd rather spend it on 'medicinal' marijuana to ease the pain.

If there's any exercise that will help it, that'll be the one.
