| | | Help Since before xmas I have been on 4 courses of antibiotics.
Ive had an ear infection and throat infection twice, a kidney infection, tonsilitis and a vomiting bug.
Now i have a cold which has been going for the last 10 days. Headache, nose blowing, hoarse/sore throat and just tired in general.
Ive been having early nights, eating well, smoking way way less, drinking way way less and looking after myself as best i can.
I have a fairly stressful job but nothing i cant handle.
Ive had blood tests that came back fine.
Blood pressure is fine, chest is fine.
But yet im tired, pale and my eyes are always blood shot from the tiredness!
I have 4 days off in row coming up (well satuday sunday monday tuesday) where im really going to try and get some rest and im starting yoga tonight.
Doctor says he doesnt think its anything sinister that i have just been unlucky picking up all the bugs going round. He says my immune system should be ok too.
Im just sick of it though! All i can think about is when i can get to bed next!
Any help majorly appreciated! |

| | | that sounds really horrible. if it were me, i would sit in bed all day and eat really bland, sick-people-food like oats and muesli and tea.
or maybe it's just the weather? hopefully spring, if it's even spring in ireland now, will make you feel better. |

Any help majorly appreciated! | That's an awful long time to be on antibiotics. In fact, taking the antibiotics that long is probably a contributor in your being sick more frequently. When you take antibiotics, not only do you kill the bad bacteria - you kill the good bacteria too so that end up, for a time, being extremely susceptible to illness when the medication kicks in.
I am perpetually fatigued myself and there are a lot of potential causes. You smoke (although less, now, since you're sick) - this makes you tired. If you are stressed at work (even though you can handle it), this will run you down. If you aren't getting quality sleep or enough vitamins, that'll run you down too. If you're sick on top of all of this - especially since before Christmas, no wonder you're a walking zombie.
One thing you might check out, per advice, is to see if you have a B12 deficiency. B12 deficiency can make you fatigued, tired, and forgetful.
It sounds like your body is maxed to the extreme and it's trying to tell you that. When you have those days off, try to get a lot of rest. Unplug the phone, turn off the TV, and curl up under a nice warm blanket.
I hope you get to feeling better. |

And yes a walking zombie is exactly is exactly how i feel at time i have to say!
I nearly burst into tears today asking for the days off!
Will definitely check up the B12 thing. I used to take vitamin B supplements and they used to do quite a good job i have to say. Have started taking vivioptal active as recommended a nurse I know.
But yeah its just getting really crap. I want to feel WELL!! |

i also keep the ringer off on the phone more often than not to get rest/avoid stress

| | | just throwing it out there have they checked for epstein barr virus?
antibiotics can cause trouble especially if they are given long term, like previous poster has said. be careful with yourself. careful handwashing (count to thirty-missisippi), and dont touch your face, esp mucus membranes... eyes mouth because if you are a bit immunosuppresed this will help prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria
phoenix is right drink water! it helps to flush the system. and dont take in caffeine or alcohol or cigarettes or as little as you can stand.
