hey all,
last night i had this severe itching on my entire left thigh. i scratched it a bit, then it went away. this morning i woke up and found that all the bits that were itchy have turned into bruises. on the back of my thigh the bruises are quite big, but on the front they're small little purple circles.
what causes this?

an insect bite?

i've just had a fist-sized bruise on my upper thigh with no obvious cause. when i looked at it there were 4-5 small raised white lumps in the middle. i guess a spider or ant bit me. the bruise lasted 2 weeks, i still have it (though it is just a big ring on the outer edge of the bruise now). the inside is still a bit sore when i touch it. it was nothing like a normal contusion.

thanks but its no bite, cos there's no mark there, no lump or raised skin or redness. my skin looks fine except for the bruises. also its itchy on the whole thigh not just a confined area.

generalized itching and easy bruising can be attributed to liver malfunction, but yours was just on your thigh. were you drunk? wont explain the itching but will explain how you were so easily bruised.

no i wasnt drunk i havent been drunk for ages!

If you were scratching lots is proably just a normal bruise..like a lovebite. My legs were like that when i used a washing powder i was allergic to.
Wouldnt be too worried really, just try to resist stratching as much.

I too developed an allergy to clothing detergent and I scratched so hard I bruised myself. Once I switched to a non-perfumed brand I was fine.

Yeah, i use baby washing powder now and i dont have a problem.

Yeah, when mine went a bit awry a few years ago, my skin would itch so bad it would just constantly turn to bruises. I think because your liver also effects how easily you bruise? Unless the whites of your eyes are yellowy, then its probably something simple like an allergy to washing powder or even certain materials.

Yes liver affects clotting factors. I'm sorry you had those problems! It can be very very difficult to live with.
