I got prescribed yasmin today and took my first one even though my period ended 2 weeks ago, is this bad for me? I know I won't be protected against pregnancy right away by doing this, but apart from that will I suffer any ill effects apart from some bleeding?

i dont think so, ive asked my doctor about this before and they said it will be fine. you know about the pregnancy bit, so thats all i'd be worried about.

Well basically it will make any breakthru bleeding you would normally get about a million times worse because you are already due your period half way thru your packets on the pill. Why didn't you wait? It might make breakthrough bleeding worse next cycle too.

I did this when I first started on the pill, and had no unusual effects. Like someone else said, you know about how you wont be protected from becoming pregnancy immediately and that's the main thing I came in here to say.

You should be fine. You might get some spotting to begin with but it should all sort itself out once your first period/break comes round.
