| | | i recently had acupuncture for the first time. i went to an acupuncturist/chiropractor so she did an adjustment afterward as well. one of my good friends sees her regularly and suggested i come along.
i was surprised that you don't feel the needles really at all. they were all over my body and it's hard to explain but you feel a sensation of energy moving around in your body. i did feel tension alleviated and my mood was highly elevated when i left. i also thought her diagnosis of me overall was very accurate.
i would highly recommend it. |

i want to get the one where they heat the needle up and stuff, i want to FEEL it.
on oprah the other day she had a acupuncturist on who said it can cure common illness to fatal disease. shes so irresponsible sometimes i wonder, where did the oprah of yesteryear go? |

| | | i am inclined to believe acupuncture can cure fatal diseases or at the least soothe the symptoms.
my friends grandma was dying of cancer in horrible pain about 6 months ago, they had tried everything medically, hardcore painkillers didn't ease the pain. on her death bed, she started receiving acupuncture (the last few weeks) and it was the ONLY thing that ever gave her relief and she voiced she had wished that she had sought it sooner. unfortunately she had progressed too far along and it was only able to provide her comfort in her final days. |

| | | acupuncture is amazing. i'm starting a 6 month chinese herb/acupuncture regimen to sort out imbalances and stress and anxiety right now. very excited about it.
i've had acupuncture before and it made me calmer, and considerably happier for no reason at all. it's really fantastic. i went to a session today and after she was done 2 people commented on how i was glowing and looked like i had been on vacation (which is definitely not the case!)
i would recommend it highly to anyone who is sensitive to their surroundings/prone to moodiness. |

Personally I don't believe it in at all, due to the lack of double-blinded RCT showing it to be any more effective then a placebo. However, if you have the intrapsychic predisposition, it will work as well as a placebo for you (and placebos can be pretty powerful). |

| | | I had some acupuncture a while back and they put microcurrents through a few of the needles. It worked well and I recommend it.
If you're getting the microcurrent, for the sake of laying there for 45 minutes, tell them when it's too much.

| | | i've always wanted to try it..and recently i was watching a veternarian program where this vet gave accupunture on a horse..the horse was rolling it's eyes and drolling almost falling asleep...so I think it must be pretty good to give that sort of reaction |

When they run a hardcore clinical trial on it, it never seems to show anything more favourable then a placebo. |

| | | Yup i get it all the time when i need it.
Unfort i didn't get the massively trippy efeling the first time but i defiantely felt something. a lot of times afterwards i feel mildly "stoned" of sorts. i actually had the needles last week. i was feeling rundown and on the verge of being sick and then went and had a massage and acupuncture (i find it much better to have a massage as part of it so tthat it gets you more relaxed) and the next day felt better.
i find it really works for me, whether it be placebo or really my qi.
i had it done once and i felt all this heat, like as if the sun was shining on my body (the needles were allover my stomach and legs). turns out i had too muich heat in my body so i was breaking out in stuff and that helped cure it.
its not expensive for me i usually pay about $60-70 (depending on which practictioner i use, i have two) and it usually includes a massage.
you do feel a tiny bit but not really..what you do feel is energy flowing. my head is usually a bit spaced out by the end of it and then afterwards i try and take the rest of the day easy just relaxingf and drinking tonnes of water. |

| | | I got it done for back pain - I was pretty skeptical, and i was there with the needles in me thinking "this is such bullshit", then all of the sudden i started laughing...like, really hard, and I couldn't stop. I felt like I was high or on some kind of drug, but not in a disoriented way. When it was all over, I just felt like there was a weight off my shoulders and my back pain was gone.
I went back a few times and I was very sensitive to the treatments - I'd be able to tell the accupuncturist what part of the body correlated to where he would put the needle...which was odd. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
