Birth control usually works well for period related break outs or even break outs that get worse during/before your period. Just make sure they're the kind that help with that. Google will tell you.
Proactiv has a tendancy to cause cystic acne. |

In that case, you pretty much have to deal with the break outs. The only thing that really works is meds.
A lot of people find that benzoyl peroxide helps though. |

The mask, however, is good.
I'm just telling you what I've heard though, it definitely works for some people.

It takes 6 weeks of being taken daily to have any effect. If you only take it once a month, during your period, you'll just breed resistant bacteria. Not to mention that as a girl, in the UK, the guidelines say you should not be prescribed doxycycline as an anti-acne medication unless you are also on the contraceptive pill is it is tetragenic (ie mutates foetuses). |
