So I'm on microgon 30, and every day since I started taking it (three weeks ago) i've been bleeding, albeit very lightly for about two weeks. I don't know if that's normal.
I'm on it for medicinal reasons like stomach pains basically.
What effects have people had taking it-i'm hoping my boobs will grow - did it make anyone suicidally depressed?

I tried two or three different pills when I was a teenager, even tried Depo. All hormonal birth control makes me crazy and fat.... Like crazy and fat are two things I DON'T need more of. If I remember correctly, your bleeding can be spotty and off-tilt for a while as you first get used to a new pill. Good Luck.

I've been on Microgynon30 for just over 2 years, when I first took it my period lasted ages. It did make my boobs go up a cup size but I put on no weight anywhere else.

It did dampen my sex drive though. I used to be crazy horny all the time, but not really anymore. And I'm sure it made me more emotionally sensitive to everything.

microgon made me crazy - put on tons of weight, got worse pms than ever.

Im on Yasmin and its cured all my pms symptoms - pain and depression. It rocks.

i hated microgynon, i got put on it after eugynon was discontinued. it made me want to drown myself.

I was put on that as my first pill, but i felt seriously depressed and wanted to cry all the time so they changed me onto a different pill and ive been fine since.

I've taken it for 6 years and I haven't had any problems with periods/weight gain etc. But as all these reponses show everyone is different, so if you do have concerns go back to your Doctor and they can help and advise.

80% of women experience break thru bleeding in the first month of starting the Pill. You might have (a lot less) break through bleeding for up to three months, thats perfectly normal too.

Yeah, I had bleeding with my first pack of microgynon, i don't think its anything to worry about, just make sure you mention it at your next check-up.

I've only been on it for 6 months. My periods have been lighter but my mood swings are worse, I still get PMT & cramps and a few dark patches have appeared on my skin. But I hear thats getting off lightly compared to some horror stories (a friend of mine got the injections and was on her period for 5 months straight!) so im sticking with it.

I was sick alot with the first packet of microgynon also, Although it does reduce period pains and suchlike i think id rather have abit of pain that i can take a painkiller to relieve than mentally feeling like a bag of shit.

Is microgestin the generic form of this?

I've been on microgynon for 4 years now and I do seem down alot more than I used to be. I'm thinking about changing. Is anyone on the pill you have to take 3 times a day? I bet thats a pain in the arse!

I've been on it years and not had any problems at all. No weight gain or depression etc.

I took microgynon for 9 months but had to stop because I kept getting thrush and severe cystitis (to the point where I was waking up doubled up in agony). So I stopped taking the pill for a year but missed the light, pain free periods. I went to see my new doctor today about going back on the pill and he prescribed me yasmin, hopefully it wont make me as ill as microgynon.

i'm on marvelon now, just had my period and it lasted 12 days surely this is just a one off?

That must have sucked. I've been on Marvelon for a year and half and pretty much 4 1/2 days is the longest period I have had. Did you swap to it from another pill or start it from scratch? Cause when I started the pill for the first time (Dianette) my period pretty much lasted ALL MONTH.

i gained a whole bunch of weight when i was on the pill and i wasn't able to lose that weight until after i stopped taking it
it cleared up my acne too though, and it never came back.


i stopped taking it because it was making my blood pressure go up. i just use condoms, it fucked my body up way too much.
