19th Century's American Icon of Motherhood

Whistler's Mother: The actual name of the painting is “Arrangement in Gray and Black: Portrait of the Artist’s Mother.” Another painting that captures the harsh plainness of the American Mid-West. James Abbott McNeill Whistler painted it in 1871.


Whistler's mother was my great great aunt's sister-in-law.
