National Geographic has some really amazing photos.

Yeah, the old issues are especially bad-ass, knowing that the person shot it on some old manual focus camera on ISO 25 slide film or something... the kinda thing that would probably make me shit the bed altogether with my digital camera that goes to ISO 25600 and photoshop!

That's half the reason I love the pictures so much.

Most people are way too into Photoshop, in my opinion. They take crap pictures and just edit the shit out of them.

I've used it before, but I don't have it and I kinda like taking a picture I'm satisfied with after only cropping, and tweaking colours slightly.

I'm not anti-Photoshop or anything, people just rely on it too much.

There's a photo I thought of for this thread, Tide Pools by Wynn Bullock. It doesn't involve abseiling down a glacier but it did make me go wow when I realised what it actually was, I thought it was a star map of a constellation at first.

Oh! I love old (and new) national geographics as well.
I generally get really impressed with sweet astral photography, because I've heard a bit about how much it takes.
Bigmuff, this thread reminded me of the 'planet earth) documentaries. There is an extra in one where they show what efforts they made to take a lot of the shots. Some are amazingly impressive.

I agree about Photoshop, I try not to be a slave.
